Our rowing route crosses a rich vegetation consisting of willow, ash, plane and other hydrophilic trees. The hydrobiont meadows with zosteras that we meet in enchanting labyrinths consisting of channels with reeds, islets and ponds trigger us to explore them.
The rowing trip keeps our interest unabated and gradually increases at the impressive flyings of the lone Spotted eagles, the Lesser spotted eagles and the Dalmatian pelicans in the autumn period. The experience of the route reaches its highlight when we encounter herds of hundreds of herons, teals, shovelers, warblers, kingfishers and seagulls enjoying the safety of the marsh on the branches of the river in hidden islets.
Throughout this wander we notice many dirt roads that lead to observation towers and protected areas while as we descend into the right riverbank we observe intense features of bucolic life of herds of cows, wild horses and water buffalos that have reappeared in the area.
At the end of the route before we meet the Ionian sea, we meet “ivaria”, the natural fishing farms of eels that constitute a model for all the Greek lagoons.
